I read some where that there is a problem with porting from the new console to pc because the memory managment is handled differently(gpu and system memory is shared together). And that is what is causing the memory issues with windows.
I have the pre-ordered hardcopy, so re-installing was no issue, which I done twice, deleted folders in documents relating to DL, even ran CCleaner, uninstalling, re-installing MS redist packages, DX, and Techlands response was rather quick, 3 emails back and forth within several hours was impressive IMO. I did however have 1.4.0 backed up, and when I replaced the directory and ran Steam in 'Offline' mode the game launched fine, displaying 1.4.0.
